This one-year fellowship seeks to foster new scholarship on Native art of the United States that centers and elevates Indigenous methodologies, knowledges, and communities. The proposed independent research project should focus on historic or contemporary Native American artists, designers, and makers.

One fellowship is awarded annually to a predoctoral researcher for a 12-month term, or to a postdoctoral or senior researcher for a 9-month term. Residencies must take place between June 1, 2027, and August 31, 2028. Housing is not provided, though support in finding local rental accommodations is available.
