Help sustain the community and scholarship of American studies.

Your gift supports research, collaboration, and access to the ASA community.

Every contribution—large or small—helps sustain the ASA community.

The American Studies Association is sustained by the energy, ideas, and commitment of its members. Donations help ensure that this intellectual community continues to thrive and remain accessible to scholars, teachers, students, artists, and public intellectuals working across the many fields that make up American Studies.

Your gift supports the core work of the ASA, including the annual meeting, research grants and prizes, professional development opportunities, and initiatives that foster new scholarship and collaboration. Donations also help the association expand participation in the field by supporting graduate students, contingent faculty, independent scholars, and community partners whose work enriches the ASA community.

Gifts to the ASA help sustain the broader field of American Studies by supporting the spaces, conversations, and collaborations where new ideas, scholarship, and public engagement take shape.

Many ASA members choose to include a small donation when renewing their membership or registering for the annual meeting as a way of supporting the broader American Studies community.

Many members choose to give $25, $50, $100, or more to support ASA programs and initiatives.

Your Gift Supports

  • The ASA Annual Meeting, where scholars, teachers, artists, activists, and community leaders share research and build new collaborations
  • Grants and scholarly prizes that recognize and support important work in American Studies
  • Travel and participation support for graduate students, contingent faculty, independent scholars, and community partners
  • Professional development and field-building initiatives that sustain and strengthen the field of American studies

Designate Your Gift

If you wish, you may direct your gift to a specific ASA fund. For example, donations to the Annette Baxter Travel Grant or the Solidarity Fund help ensure that students, contingent faculty, community leaders, activists, and others are able to attend and participate in the annual meeting.

Sustaining the Field

For many members, supporting the ASA is also a way of sustaining the broader field of American Studies. Gifts to the association help maintain the spaces where new scholarship develops, where emerging scholars find community, and where conversations across disciplines continue to grow.

Some members choose to make an annual sustaining gift of $100, $250, or more to support the long-term work of the ASA.
