Praxis: A Journal of Gender and Cultural Critiques (formerly Phoebe), reflects and invokes certain approaches and content: Feminist, Marxist, Freireian; that seek to wed theory to practice as instruments of social liberation. Centering these approaches at this juncture in history appears necessary when struggles across the globe intersect at the juncture of gender, sexuality, workers, the environment, governance, culture, and economics with great urgency. Praxis continues Phoebe’s commitment to providing a space for all disciplines and interdisciplinary approaches to the study of shifting meanings of gender, sexuality, race, ethnicity, class, and the intersections of these. It maintains a tradition of
providing space for emerging as well as mature scholars and for creative reflections in poetry, short fiction and visual representation.
Praxis is an international peer refereed journal. To further the free exchange of idea, Praxis will publish positions or statements which the editors neither agree with nor endorse.

MANUSCRIPT SUBMISSION: Due 30th May, 2026
Electronic submissions preferred in MS Word or Rich Text File. Articles should be 5,000 to 7,000 words. Creative work of any length will be considered. All copies should be double spaced and in accordance with Chicago Manual of Style.
Contributors should include their name(s), institutional affiliation(s), email and postal address(es). Only submit work not under review elsewhere and include a statement of the same.
