Kenyon College, a highly selective, nationally ranked liberal arts college in central Ohio, invites applications for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor in American Studies beginning 1 July 2023. We are especially interested in candidates whose teaching and research interests deal with aspects of racial capitalism, including labor systems and exploitation, wealth inequality, gentrification, and abolition geography in North America. Candidates should have a record of excellent teaching and a Ph.D. in hand (in American Studies or a related discipline) or be near completion by the beginning of the appointment.

A complete application will have: 1) a cover letter discussing the applicant's research and scholarship, its relevance to the field of American Studies, and prior teaching experience; 2) a statement of the applicant's teaching philosophy and plans for using inclusive pedagogy; 3) a Curriculum Vitae; 4) unofficial graduate transcript(s); and 5) names and contact information for three recommenders, at least one of which can speak to the candidate’s teaching experience.
