The Centre for the Study of the United States(CSUS) in the Munk School of Global Affairs & Public Policy invites applications for a part-time (60%) teaching stream position with teaching duties in the American Studies undergraduate program.  The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream, for one year, beginning on July 1, 2022 and ending on June 30, 2023.  This appointment is renewable each year for two subsequent years subject to operational requirements and performance.

All applicants must currently hold a Ph.D. in American Studies or in a cognate field and have an excellent record of teaching and scholarship related to American Studies.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach four one-semester courses. Responsibilities also include aiding the Director of CSUS in curricular development and implementation; administering the Graduate Student Workshops; and administration of awards and scholarship selections.

Description of Duties:

  • The design and teaching of two university half-credit courses, including preparation and delivery of course content;

  • Teaching two additional core half-courses in American Studies;

  • Development, administration, and marking of assignments, tests, and exams, and submission of grades;

  • Aiding the Director of CSUS in curricular development;

  • Administering the CSUS Graduate Student Workshops;

  • Aiding the Director of CSUS in the administration of awards and scholarship selections;

  • Holding regular office hours for approximately four hours each week;

  • Other duties and responsibilities, as assigned by the Program Director.

Salary:

$53,345.00 per annum, including benefits and occasional funding for conference travel and/or pedagogical research.
