The Department of English at the University of Maryland, College Park invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor specializing in Asian American and Pacific Islander literature and culture to begin in August 2023. Appropriate secondary fields may include critical race theory; Indigenous and Pacific studies; Global Asian studies, women’s, gender and sexuality studies; queer theory and performance and media studies. The successful candidate must have a PhD in English or a related field by July 1, 2023. Successful candidates will be expected to publish actively; teach two courses per semester; direct dissertations, comprehensive exams, capstone projects, and honors theses; and offer service to the Department, the College, and the University.

We seek candidates whose research, teaching, and service have prepared them to contribute to diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI). In their required DEI statement, applicants are encouraged to delineate their current and potential leadership efforts and contributions to diversity. The statement may include their dedication in their research, teaching and service towards building an equitable scholarly environment, and their commitment to increase access to/and participation of individuals from historically underrepresented groups.
