The Department of American Studies at the University of Notre Dame invites applications for a senior position in American Studies at the rank of advanced associate or full professor. We are open to any subfield within American Studies, but candidates should demonstrate an excellent and extensive publishing record, active research agenda, and compelling vision for the field. They should also have a strong record of teaching undergraduate courses that complement our mission to “study the American experience in all its diversity.” The Department is a highly interdisciplinary and vibrant intellectual community, with a large undergraduate program of approximately 100 majors committed to critical thinking, intersectional inquiry, and social justice. We seek a leading scholar who will help us advance this mission. Information about Notre Dame is available here; more on the Department can be found at americanstudies.nd.edu.
Candidates should upload a CV and brief letter of interest via Interfolio at https://apply.interfolio.com/129225. We will request further materials, including letters, at a later date. Applications received by October 2, 2023 will receive the fullest consideration. Please contact Department Chair Jason Ruiz with any questions: jason.ruiz@nd.edu. Representatives from the Department will also be available at the annual meeting of the American Studies Association for discussion and questions about the position.
Job, fellowship, and CFP listings are services that are offered by the American Studies Association to support its members in exploring professional opportunities in American studies. Any questions should be directed to the program, department, or center that has posted the opportunity.
