The Early American Matters Caucus of the ASA invites submissions for a panel at ASA 2019 (Honolulu, Hawai’i, November 7-10, 2019), on pedagogies in early American studies.
In keeping with the ASA theme, “build as we fight,” this panel aims to address ways that Early American Studies can contribute politically-engaged and historically informed pedagogy to contemporary classrooms. We welcome submissions of any pedagogical interest, including specific pedagogical techniques, practical and theoretical issues, and debates in our (early) American studies classrooms. And as always, we encourage submissions that keep in mind the geographical, cultural, and historical frame of Hawai’i and the transnational Pacific.
We welcome submissions from scholars and teachers of all kinds and in any career position; and we plan to organize and submit this panel as one of the Early American Matters caucus’s sponsored panels.
