It is with great pleasure and enthusiasm that we announce the new home for our Association’s flagship journal, American Quarterly. Dr. Jason Ruiz at the University of Notre Dame will serve as the new editor of AQ, with colleagues Professors Benjamin Balthaser (Indiana University South Bend), Korey Garibaldi (UND), and Perin Gürel (UND) as Associate Editors.
As you recall, in the fall of 2022, the ASA's leadership announced a call for shows of institutional interest from colleges and universities to become the next host for AQ. After ten years at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa under the leadership of Dr. Mari Yoshihara, the journal’s contract will expire on June 30, 2024. Our year-long search for a home yielded several inquiries and letters of interest. The ad hoc Committee, charged by the Executive Committee, vetted final proposals and Notre Dame’s was their unanimous choice. Following the National Council’s unanimous ratification of our contract, we are excited about this new direction for AQ.
Please join us at ASA as we thank Dr. Yoshihara for her decade of work for the Association and welcome Dr. Ruiz to the ranks of some very esteemed and beloved colleagues who have shepherded the intellectual life of this Association so brilliantly.
